ABOUT MACRA NA FEIRME

Macra na Feirme is a vibrant, independent, non-profit, national
voluntary organisation for rural young people and young farmers

website** engaged in youth development and training. The organisation
consists of a nationwide network of clubs which support a range of
activities in agriculture, sport, travel, public speaking and
performing arts.

Macra na Feirme is committed to the personal development of members
and puts emphasis on social interaction and participation.

hundreds of volunteers on a weekly and monthly basis in the delivery
of services to members through almost **Apply on the website** clubs
across the country.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The aim of the Training & Development Officer is a rewarding role
focused on developing volunteer led Macra na Feirme Clubs and Counties
for young people in the South East region, incorporating counties
Wexford, Wicklow, Dublin, Carlow & Kildare.
Macra na Feirme activities take place at evening time and at weekends,
this provides an opportunity for a flexible role, with responsibility
to manage working hours to suit the demands of your area.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

The main duties of a Training and Development Officer are:

* To support the creation of new clubs and sustain a portfolio of
clubs within the region for the enjoyment and personal develop of the
young people we serve.
* Assist volunteers, club and county officers to organise themselves
effectively and efficiently to engage in youth development activities.
* To provide guidance & support to Club and County Officers to
ensure they have balanced well-planned programmes.
* To deliver training, coaching and mentoring, and organise the
delivery of training, to build the capacity of young people within
Macra Clubs.
* To contribute to the development of education programmes to
support development and empowerment of volunteers to become leaders
within their own communities and beyond.
* To engage and support volunteers in relation to problem solving
and other areas of concern and interest to them in youth development.
* To implement best practice policies and procedures in relation to
member training, recruitment, retention and development.
* To encourage clubs to engage, interact and participate in
competitions, training and events with other Macra na Feirme clubs in
the area.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

_QUALIFICATIONS_

* A relevant third level degree, preferably in youth and/or community
work, and at least 3 years? experience is required. The ideal
candidate will have a thorough understanding of child safeguarding
legislation, especially in the context of Macra na Feirme service and
age cohort.

_PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE_

The ideal candidate will have the following essential qualifications
or experience:

* Education to Degree level preferably in Youth and/or Community Work
* An understanding of Youth Work and Community development
methodologies
* Access to car and full driving license
* Thorough knowledge of child protection and safeguarding
legislation and practices

It is desirable that the ideal candidate will have the following:

* Paid or voluntary, experience working with young people
* Experience in coaching, mentoring or training provision to young
people
* Experience of Erasmus+ programmes or other EU funded initiatives
* Understanding of Irish Agriculture

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE ROLE

GARDA VETTING: As our work involves contact with young people,
candidates under consideration for employment in Macra na Feirme will
be subject to Garda vetting.

REFERENCES: The successful candidate will undergo 2 reference checks
before commencing employment with Macra na Feirme.

ANNUAL LEAVE: The Training and Development Officer will be entitled to

HOURS OF WORK: The Training and Development Officer will be expected
to work a minimum of **Apply on the website** hours per week. Please
note these positions will require flexibility in relation to working
hours. It is expected that the Training and Development Officer(s)
will work some late evenings (up to **Apply on the website**pm) and
some weekend work.

SALARY: The salary for this position will be discussed with the
successful candidate upon appointment.

TRAVEL: This post will involve domestic travel within Ireland and
occasional meetings. Travel and expenses will be paid in accordance
with appropriate Macra na Feirme rates.

BASE: The role can be undertaken remote on a working from home basis.
The successful candidate is expected to be residing in the area.
